Lifetime Limited Warranty Policy

1. Warranty Coverage

Adept Materials, Inc. (Lilypad Paint) warrants that our interior wall paint products will be free from manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the product when purchased directly from Lilypad Paint's website. This lifetime limited warranty applies only to defects in the manufacturing process of the paint itself.

2. What This Warranty Covers

This warranty covers manufacturing defects only, including:

  • Defects in the paint formula or composition resulting from the manufacturing process
  • Contamination or foreign materials introduced during manufacturing
  • Separation or curdling in unopened, properly stored containers due to manufacturing errors
  • Incorrect mixing or blending of ingredients during production
  • Packaging defects that compromise product integrity before opening

3. What "Lifetime" Means

For purposes of this warranty, "lifetime" means:

  • For unopened containers: The expected shelf life of the product when stored properly
  • For opened and applied paint: As long as the original purchaser owns the property where the paint was applied, provided all warranty conditions are met

4. What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover any defects, failures, or issues resulting from:

Application and Use Issues

  • Improper surface preparation, cleaning, or priming
  • Incorrect application methods or failure to follow application instructions
  • Application outside recommended temperature or humidity ranges
  • Use of incompatible primers, sealers, or topcoats
  • Misuse, abuse, or use for purposes other than interior wall applications

Storage and Handling

  • Paint that has been frozen, overheated, or improperly stored
  • Opened containers that were not properly resealed
  • Product stored beyond shelf life

Environmental and External Factors

  • Damage from moisture infiltration, water leaks, or structural movement
  • Exposure to harsh chemicals or cleaning agents
  • Mildew, mold, or fungal growth
  • Efflorescence or other substrate-related issues
  • Impact, abrasion, scratches, or physical damage

Normal Product Characteristics

  • Normal wear and tear or aging
  • Color fading due to UV exposure or age
  • Minor color variations between production batches
  • Sheen variation due to application technique

Performance Issues

  • Peeling, flaking, blistering, or adhesion failure (unless proven to be from manufacturing defect)
  • Coverage issues or hiding power (unless proven to be from manufacturing defect)
  • Drying time variations due to environmental conditions

Third-Party Factors

  • Paint applied by contractors or third parties (warranty claims must be made by original purchaser)
  • Damage caused by other building materials, products, or construction activities

5. How to Make a Warranty Claim

To submit a warranty claim for a suspected manufacturing defect, please contact us via email at hello@lilypadpaint.com with the following information:

  1. Proof of Purchase: Order number, receipt, or invoice showing date and place of purchase
  2. Product Information: Product name, color, and batch/lot number (found on can lid)
  3. Detailed Description: Clear description of the suspected manufacturing defect
  4. Photographs: Digital photos showing:
    • The suspected defect
    • The paint can label with batch number clearly visible
    • For applied paint: the affected surface
    • Proof of purchase
  5. Application Details (if paint was applied):
    • Date of application
    • Surface preparation methods used
    • Application conditions (temperature, humidity)
    • Other products used (primer, topcoat, etc.)

6. Warranty Claim Process

  1. Submit your claim via email with all required documentation
  2. Our warranty team will review your claim within 5-7 business days
  3. We may request additional information, photos, or product samples
  4. Manufacturing defect verification: Adept Materials, Inc. reserves the right to inspect the product and/or retained samples from the same batch to verify that the issue stems from a manufacturing defect
  5. Once approved as a manufacturing defect, you may choose either:
    • Replacement: We will ship replacement paint at no charge
    • Refund: We will refund the purchase price to your original payment method

7. Return Shipping

For approved warranty claims verified as manufacturing defects, Adept Materials, Inc. will provide a prepaid shipping label for return of the defective product. You are not responsible for return shipping costs on valid warranty claims.

8. Limitations and Exclusions

  • This warranty is strictly limited to manufacturing defects only. Performance issues, application problems, or defects resulting from any other cause are not covered.
  • This warranty is limited to the replacement of defective paint or refund of the purchase price. Adept Materials, Inc. is not responsible for costs of labor, surface preparation, reapplication, or any other consequential costs.
  • Adept Materials, Inc. is not liable for consequential or incidental damages, including but not limited to damage to surfaces, furniture, or other property.
  • This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
  • Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

9. Burden of Proof

The original purchaser bears the burden of proving that any defect is the result of a manufacturing error rather than application, storage, environmental, or other non-manufacturing causes. Adept Materials, Inc. may require product samples, laboratory testing, or on-site inspection to verify manufacturing defects.

10. Product Testing Recommendation

For large projects, we strongly recommend purchasing a small quantity first to test the product's compatibility with your specific surface and application conditions. Apply a test patch and allow adequate cure time before proceeding with the full project.

11. Warranty Transfer

This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser with valid proof of purchase. If ownership of the property changes, this warranty does not transfer to the new owner.

THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NO EMPLOYEE, AGENT, DEALER, OR OTHER PERSON IS AUTHORIZED TO ALTER THIS WARRANTY OR MAKE ANY OTHER WARRANTY ON BEHALF OF ADEPT MATERIALS, INC.
